The music community needs you now more than ever. The COVID crisis has stripped many musicians and craftsmen of their livelihood. The SMIPAC initiative is a sincere attempt to help these people survive. But, we need your help. A small contribution from you can completely change someone’s life.

Update, July 2020:

Our intentions and efforts were recognised by the INDIA TODAY network. In an article highlighting the plight of the music community, the SMIPAC Initiative finds a mention as to how we seek to address the issues faced by the forgotten link in India’s classical music industry. The original article can be found at the following link: SMIPAC and India Today

SMIPAC has also collaborated with the social innovation platform uLaunch for the initiative and our vision is highlighted in an article by Subhav Duggal which can be found at: SMIPAC and uLaunch

For the month of July, with the help of the contributors, the initiative, we have been able to provide financial support to 10 artisans in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and interiors of West Bengal who have been struggling to make ends meet. Among them is Mr Prabhati Lal, a hearing-impaired harmonium player who has not able to find any work for the past few months. Tabla makers Mr Suken, Mr Srimanta, Mr Samar Mondal, Mr Swapn Das amongst a few others received your blessings and support.

For the initiative to actually be successful, we need to sustain it for a few more months and try to reach out to as many needful artisans. We have a constantly increasing list of people seeking our support. It can only be our combined efforts which can make a difference in all of these people’s lives. Your contributions and support goes a long way in helping them and their families. We request you to share the initiative across social media platforms, and contribute as per your capacities so that we can reach out to as many people and a collective effort translates into a ray of hope for them.

SMIPAC Event,
2nd July 2022

In furtherance of our initiative to help artists and artisans through the uncertainties faced during the initial waves of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we are organizing a MEMORIAL CONCERT remembering some of the greatest artists who unfortunately passed away owing to the Pandemic and acknowledging the void they left behind. The event will take place tentatively in Triveni Auditorium, New Delhi, IN on July 2nd, 2022.

We are seeking your financial and logistical help and support in our initiative to keep the Indian Classical Music Traditions alive and thriving. Besides helping in our initiatives in the near future, your support would go a long way in bolstering our efforts to do the same in the distant future as well.

Note:

Only accepting domestic donations.

We also accept donations via cheque, issued in favor of 'SMIPAC TRUST'.

SMIPAC EVENT 2020

In the aftermath of the first wave, we had planned and started preparing for the organization of another SMIPAC Event - Utsav 2020, to recognize and reinforce the proud spirit of the Indian Classical Music Community. Unfortunately, due to further distress caused by the new waves of Covid-19, we had to defer the event and organize an online event in March 2022 in the lieu of the same.
